LegalCookie Policy
A short page, because this site genuinely uses very few cookies: the ones that keep you signed in, one that remembers your choice, and optional aggregate analytics. That is the whole list.
The short version: devcourselab.com sets two strictly necessary cookies and, only if you say yes, one privacy-friendly analytics cookie. No advertising cookies, no tracking pixels, no cross-site profiling — ever.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store, so the site can recognize your browser on later visits or during a session. Cookies cannot run programs, read your files, or see what you do on other sites — but they can be used to follow you around the web, which is why we keep ours to a bare minimum and tell you exactly what each one does.
2. The cookies we actually use
Here is the complete inventory. If a cookie is not in this table, we do not set it.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
dcl_session |
Strictly necessary. Keeps you signed in to your student account and remembers which cohort pages you may access. Without it, you cannot log in. | Session (deleted when you close the browser), or 14 days if you tick “remember me” |
dcl_cookie_choice |
Strictly necessary. Remembers whether you accepted or declined optional cookies, so we do not ask on every page. | 12 months |
dcl_analytics |
Optional — set only with your consent. Privacy-friendly, aggregate analytics (a Plausible-style, self-hosted tool). It counts page views and referrers in aggregate, sets no cross-site identifier, and never feeds advertising. It tells us things like “the Foundations page got 400 visits this week,” not who you are. | 24 hours |
Payment pages are served by our payment processor, Stripe, which may set its own strictly necessary cookies for fraud prevention while you check out. Those are governed by Stripe's own policies, not ours.
3. What we don't use
- No advertising or remarketing cookies.
- No social-media pixels (no Facebook Pixel, no LinkedIn Insight, none of that family).
- No third-party cross-site tracking of any kind.
- No cookie-based profiling or advertising tracking of any kind.
4. Managing cookies
You control cookies in two ways:
- Our consent banner. On your first visit you can accept or decline the optional analytics cookie. To change your mind later, clear the
dcl_cookie_choicecookie (see below) and the banner will reappear. - Your browser settings. Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies — usually under Settings → Privacy. Search your browser's help for “cookies” for exact steps.
A fair warning: if you block strictly necessary cookies, the site will not work properly — you will not be able to sign in, and enrollment and checkout will fail. Blocking the optional analytics cookie changes nothing about how the site works for you; we simply learn a little less about which pages are useful.
5. Changes to this policy
If we ever add or change a cookie, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date above first, and we will ask for fresh consent before setting any new optional cookie. We do not expect this page to change often — the whole point of it is that there is very little to say.
