LegalRefund Policy
Courses are a commitment of time as much as money. If we are not the right fit, we would rather refund you fairly and part as friends than keep your money and an unhappy student.
The short version: you get a full refund, no questions asked, for 14 days from the first day of your cohort. After that, refunds are prorated until the halfway point of the course. And if the problem is timing rather than the course itself, you can pause once and rejoin a later cohort for free. This policy is part of our Terms of Service.
1. The 14-day full refund
Every course comes with a 14-day full-refund window, counted from the first day of your cohort — not from the day you paid. If you enroll early and your cohort has not started yet, the window has not started either; you can cancel for a full refund at any time before or during those first 14 days of the course.
No questions, no exit interview, no “are you sure?” screens. Email us (section 3) and we refund 100% of what you paid to your original payment method.
2. Prorated refunds after day 14
After the full-refund window closes, you can still withdraw and receive a partial refund based on how much of the course has elapsed, measured by the proportion of scheduled course weeks that have passed:
| When you withdraw | Refund |
|---|---|
| Within 14 days of your cohort's start date | 100% — no questions asked |
| After day 14, before 25% of the course is completed | 75% of the course price |
| From 25% up to 50% of the course completed | 50% of the course price |
| After 50% of the course is completed | No refund, except documented emergencies (below) |
Documented emergencies. If something serious happens — illness, a family emergency, military deployment — write to us at any point, even past the 50% mark. With reasonable documentation we will work out a fair prorated refund or a free transfer to a future cohort. We are a small studio run by humans; we handle these case by case and err on the student's side.
3. How to request a refund
Email info@devcourselab.com with:
- the subject line “Refund request”;
- sent from the email address you used at purchase;
- your order number from your receipt email, and the course name.
We confirm receipt within 2 business days and process approved refunds within 5–10 business days, back to your original payment method via our payment processor, Stripe. Banks sometimes take a few extra days to post the credit — that part is out of our hands, but we will give you the Stripe refund reference so you can trace it.
4. Pause instead of refund
Sometimes the course is right and the timing is wrong. Before asking for a refund, consider a pause: once per course, you can freeze your enrollment and rejoin the next cohort of the same course at no extra cost. Your completed weeks and mentor feedback carry over. Email info@devcourselab.com and we will set it up. A pause used and a refund requested later is fine — the refund is calculated from your original cohort's schedule.
5. Installment plans
If you are paying in installments, refunds apply to amounts already paid. A full refund inside the 14-day window returns every installment charged so far; a prorated refund returns the applicable percentage of what you have paid to date. When a refund is approved, all remaining scheduled installments are cancelled — you are never charged further for a course you have withdrawn from.
6. Non-refundable items
Here is the complete list of non-refundable fees: there are none. No “registration fee”, no “materials fee”, no “processing surcharge” deducted from your refund. The percentages in section 2 are applied to the full price you paid. The only narrow exception is the conduct rule in our Terms of Service: students removed for confirmed cheating are not eligible for a refund, while students removed for other conduct violations receive the normal prorated refund.
7. Chargebacks — please talk to us first
If something looks wrong on your card statement, please email us before filing a chargeback with your bank. We resolve genuine refund requests faster than any dispute process (days, not months), and every chargeback costs a small business a fee even when the customer eventually wins it. Filing a chargeback for a purchase you actually made — rather than asking us — may lead us to suspend the associated account while the dispute is investigated, simply to protect against fraud. None of this limits any rights you have with your card issuer.
8. Changes to this policy & contact
If we change this policy, the version in force on the day you purchased your course applies to that purchase — we never tighten refund terms retroactively. Material changes are announced by email to active students at least 14 days before taking effect.
